Sustainability
At Neighborhood Alliance, we are committed to creating safe, healthy, and attractive neighborhoods for all.
This means building neighborhoods that will last for future generations! Environmental sustainability is crucial for maintaining the longevity of your neighborhood and our world.
At the end of the day, Earth is everyone’s forever home and we owe it to our neighbors to take care of it. The good news is that there are many ways you and your neighbors can improve the environmental health of your neighborhood. This section will provide you with the knowledge and resources to implement sustainable measures into your community.
When our neighbors and city work in tandem to live more sustainable lifestyles, such as reducing carbon emissions, conserving natural resources, and promoting sustainable practices, we are helping mitigate climate change's effects and protect natural ecosystems.
Even small changes, like planting more native plants, collecting rainwater, or recycling are helping build a community for future generations to enjoy.
More resources are coming soon!
Yard by Yard- Grounds by Grounds
This free certification program from the Oklahoma Conservation Commission helps individuals and neighborhoods create healthier, more sustainable outdoor spaces. By using native plants, reducing chemical use, conserving water, and supporting local wildlife, participants can earn recognition for their yards or community green spaces. It's an easy, impactful way to make a difference—one yard at a time!
Schedule a Sprinkler Checkup with OKC Utilities!
The Oklahoma City Water Conservation Team offers free sprinkler checkups for Neighborhood and Homeowner's Association maintained common areas and multi-family properties (not individual residential properties). Program staff will run through each zone and flag problem areas. An Association or building management contact needs to be available to show where controllers are located. Sprinkler systems must use Oklahoma City water.
Monarch Waystation Program
Join thousands of gardeners, neighborhood groups, schools, and nature lovers in supporting monarch butterfly conservation! The Monarch Waystation program, run by Monarch Watch, enables you to create a certified habitat that helps monarchs produce new generations and sustain their astonishing migration.
