After 24 years of dedicated service, Executive Director Georgie Rasco has retired from the Neighborhood Alliance of Central Oklahoma.
Through her tireless work organizing and empowering neighborhoods throughout Oklahoma City, Rasco was able to take NACOK from a one-woman-show to an organization with a full-time staff, Americorp intern, and more recently, expanded efforts to include Norman.
“After so many years of incredible leadership and dedication, the board is both excited and saddened to announce the retirement of our beloved Executive Director, Georgie Rasco,” said Jessica Thompson, NACOK Board of Directors President. “As the heart of our non-profit, she has been instrumental in shaping our community for the better! We are thrilled to announce Georgie will forever be known as our Executive Emeritus.”
Because of this work, Rasco is leaving a legacy unlike any other in more than 600 different organized neighborhoods. Her passion for connecting with others led to training more than 12,000 leaders, many of whom have gone on to lead and serve on city boards and commissions, hold public office, and more. Rasco was the spark for many to take initiative and learn how to build a stronger city.
Thompson herself became one of those sparks when Rasco’s work with the City of Oklahoma City’s Strong Neighborhood Initiative took place in her community of Classen Ten Penn beginning in 2013.
When asked by the NACOK Board of Directors how Rasco would like to celebrate her esteemed career, Rasco encouraged the establishment of the “Georgie Rasco Legacy Fund” to continue serving generations of neighborhood leaders to come. Donations to this fund are tax deductible and can be made by clicking here or mailing a check to 1236 NW 36th, Oklahoma City, OK 73118.
