Enroll in OG&E’s SmartHours Starting June 1

From OG&E, sponsors of Create Great Neighborhoods:

Take control of your summer electricity bills! Last summer, over 99% of all residential SmartHours customers saved money on their energy bills, with an average savings of $150. Some even saved $100 per month for a total savings around $400 for the entire summer. You could, too.

From June 1 through September 30, thousands of OG&E customers participate in the SmartHours Price Plan. This risk-free plan offers electricity at almost half price for 19 hours of the day, plus weekends and holidays. All that’s asked is that you shift a little of your usage out of the peak hours from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays. At the end of your first year on the program, OG&E promises to credit your account the full difference if you pay more for electricity used than you would have on your previous rate.

Want to Save More?

To help you save even more, OG&E is offering a FREE SmartTemp Thermostat! Customers who chose to use the SmartTemp Thermostat have seen an additional savings of 30% on the program. Installation is free and trained technicians will check and seal the main plenum of your ductwork if needed – free.

If you already have a free SmartTemp thermostat, watch our SmartTemp Tutorial videos to learn how your thermostat can you stay comfortable and in control. You can also visit the SmartHours Communication Center to see tips and news.

How SmartHours Works

It costs more to generate and use electricity during peak periods of high customer demand. Other factors, like weather conditions and the time of year, can also drive prices higher. SmartHours, sometimes known as Variable Peak Pricing (VPP), allows you to save when costs are lower, or off peak.

During the summer, peak hours are 2 to 7 p.m. weekdays, and prices during those hours vary based on demand. Each day, you’ll receive advance notice of the next day’s peak price so you can manage your energy use. You can also visit the SmartHours Price Signal page for rates. On occasion, a critical event could be called during high demand. While these are rare, they can occur any day of the week, at any time of the year and last up to 8 hours. Critical event notices are sent at least 2 hours ahead.

As an OG&E customer, you have anytime access to the free myOGEpower website. It’s a powerful online tool that lets you see the energy you’re using in incredible detail. So you can view information like your current electricity use, your estimated bill, even your use compared to neighbors – all to manage electricity more efficiently and lower your bills.

Best of all, it’s free – and mobile-friendly. So sign up now or learn more about all the impressive myOGEpower features.
