Combating the City’s Abandoned Properties Problem
Last year, neighborhood Alliance and the City of Oklahoma City hosted a couple of information sessions on the topics of Vacant and Abandoned Properties. Since then, the City of Oklahoma City Planning Department has been working with a consultant to quantify the negative impacts vacant and abandoned buildings have on neighborhoods and the city and to recommend a program to address the issue.
Russell Claus, the city’s Planning Director, presented the results of the study to the City Council on the morning of July 2nd in a regularly-scheduled Council meeting. The Report was well-received and garnered much media attention.
